#15: Scripture is a telescope aimed at God's heart (with Brian Simmons)
“The water of the Word of God is refreshing, it brings life and glory. When the Holy Spirit is mingled with it, we have the wine that fills and renews. We need both Word and Spirit.”
Brian Simmons is the lead translator of The Passion Translation, a new, dynamic-equivalent version that focuses on the life and passion inside of scripture. Brian and his wife began their ministry in the jungles of Panama translating the New Testament into the local language. We discussed the beauty of an evolving understanding of the Bible, the science of linguistics, and how new translations lead us deeper into the heart of God.

We explore the journey of creating a Story Bible that emphasizes representation, inclusion, and gentle parenting practices. Mariko and Rachel reflect on the personal and communal impact of trust, intuition, and vulnerability, sharing their experiences with parenting, deconstruction, and creative collaboration. This conversation is an invitation to embrace hope and embodied spirituality as we navigate our complex journeys of faith and belonging.
