#17: Building faith through Worship (with Melissa Joy Boerger)
“My focus is to build faith. I want people to walk away from a worship set saying, “My God is faithful. My God comes through for me. My God is great.””
My good friend Melissa is the worship pastor at our church. She has been leading worship for more than 20 years, and is one of the most honest, genuine lovers of God that I know. We discussed the goals of a worship set, how to be OK with simple worship in a world dominated by Bethel Music, and how to involve kids in your worship band.

Jaye Thomas is a world-renowned worship leader and songwriter from Kansas City and a good friend of mine. Jaye and his wife Nayomi recently left the staff of IHOP to focus on their ministry, Song of Hope. With three primary pillars: Bible study, community discipleship and worship for people in prison, Jaye and Nayomi are actively ministering the love of God to people in church and out of church. Jaye and I discussed freedom, hope, self-righteousness and seeing Jesus in people we don’t expect to find him in.
